381 pictures.

May 1, 2025 by Adam Mazek

On the 10th of May, 2024 (I also wrote this text on that day), I embarked on a street photo walk that resulted in a staggering 381 pictures.

This was not just a casual stroll but a dedicated exploration of my surroundings, capturing the essence of the street life in each frame. Undoubtedly, it was my personal record. Perhaps I would not have noticed it if I had not published the “241 pictures” post a few days earlier. I wrote there about my previous record of taking 241 photos during a single walk. Do I take photographs to break records? No, I do walk and do street photography to break any records. Still, today, I was simply inspired by the mundane reality. That’s why I took 381 pictures. Am I always inspired by the mundane reality? Yes, it happened not the first time in my life. After all, I was walking in my favorite Warsaw district, Mokotow. Today, I was walking in the Sluzewiec neighborhood.

I do not have to mention that I published three samples from my photo walk in this post.

I write about all these things somewhat out of curiosity. I do not plan to make another record. Also, as a curiosity, I will add that I have taken almost 12k steps. This number is rather average regarding my photo walks. Sometimes, I will do more steps, and sometimes, even below 10k steps. It all depends on how much time and energy I have. While writing about all these things, I started to ask myself: how is it possible that I find so many visual incentives every day to photograph, even though I walk on the same streets for the umpteenth time?

Why do other people skip interesting visual aspects of their surroundings without stopping and noticing the hidden beauty in the mundane ugliness? I do not know the answers to all these questions. Luckily, I do not have to know everything. What I know is that tomorrow, I will also take a walk. Still, I do not plan to break any records. I simply plan to relax and have fun while doing street photography.
