Today (I wrote this text on the 23rd of August, 2023), I want to stress my enduring joy of finding beauty in the mundane reality. That’s why I decided to write a love letter to street photography.
In a love letter to street photography, I want to state my gratitude towards this artistic and fitness activity. Street photography helped me stabilize my whole life. I do not seek pleasure in parties and alcohol like I used to do many years ago (I started regularly doing street photography in October 2015). Undoubtedly, walking and taking pictures on Warsaw’s streets opened my eyes not only literally because I see much more than before. This great activity allowed me to analyze many issues, meditate, think about many happenings, or just switch off my mind after my office job.
The more I do it, the more I realize I cannot live without this creative activity.
I hope to do it by the end of my final days. Today, I also strolled among Warsaw’s streets and took pictures of whatever I saw. I made more than 12,000 footsteps. For me, it is a good result. Street photography is an activity not only for my mind but also for my legs and back. I love the feeling when I get up after 8 hours of work and just walk wherever my eyes lead me.
It is a moment when I feel I have nowhere to go, like the Beatles sang in one of the greatest songs ever composed, “You Never Give Me Your Money.”
For me, “nowhere to go” means I can go everywhere, wherever I want. Thus, street photography is a synonym of freedom for me. I must end this love letter because I must go to sleep. Thank you, street photography, for providing so much joy and incentives to my life.
