The older I am, the more I see I have a non-obvious lifestyle.
By ‘nonobvious,’ I mean a lifestyle that is not commonly seen or understood. It’s a way of living that’s uniquely mine, shaped by my experiences, choices, and personal growth. I wrote this text on the 8th of December, 2024. It was a day when I was doing street photography in my beloved Mokotów district. It was 3 degrees Celsius (37 degrees Fahrenheit) cold. Of course, I was walking in summer clothes. Additionally, I had a rucksack weighing 22 kg (49 lbs) on my back and shoulders. While wandering through Warsaw’s streets, I started to think about my non-obvious lifestyle.
The truth is that I have worked in a broadly defined Finance world since March 2009.
In October 2015, I started doing street photography regularly. Also, I have been managing the www.adammazek.com blog for over seven years. When I consider that within the last three years, I added to my way of living things like:
- Intermittent fasting (since Christmas 2020, I have not eaten earlier than 7 p.m., and I avoid processed food, focusing on eating eggs, meat, vegetables, and nuts). This has not only improved my health but also increased my productivity and mental clarity;
-
Taking freezing showers (I have done it since April 2021. However, it was not easy at first. The shock of the cold water was intense, but I persevered, and now, I find it invigorating.);
-
Walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures (I started doing it during the Fall/Winter 2021/2022 season);
-
Intermittent dry fasting (I started doing it at the beginning of July 2024; I do not drink anything [even water or coffee] until 7 p.m.);
-
Rucking (I have been doing it since the middle of August 2024. Rucking means walking with an additional burden.)
As you can see, my Dear Friend, my lifestyle is a reflection of my personal journey, and it differs from most other people’s way of living.
In a world where luxury and materialism often take center stage, I’ve chosen a different path. I’ve adopted practices like intermittent fasting, cold showers, and rucking, not because they’re trendy, but because they resonate with my heart, mind, and soul.
