Today (I wrote this text on the 6th of August, 2023), I will provide you with a piece of advice.
In art, you have to externalize yourself at some point to discover yourself and go a step further. Externalization is painfully difficult. A person does not necessarily think of it in terms of success. He treats it more like a test and a transition. This creative path really takes work and is not easy. When did it happen in my artistic career? It happened when I published my first set of pictures, “Farewell.” It was a work about my farewell to Brother Marcinek, who died in 1994. I had many internal doubts about whether I should publish this work of art. Still, from the very beginning, I knew I would do it. I feared other people’s opinions, reactions, comments, etc.
Now, I know it was somewhat stupid thinking. I believe we should not worry about others’ opinions.
Of course, we should listen to others. Thanks to listening to other people, we can learn new things. Or, we can adjust, adapt, or change something in our doings thanks to other humans’ comments. Nevertheless, we should listen to ourselves the most. Even if we hear something negative about us, we should say “Thank you” for this comment and do what we think we should do. In today’s post, I want to encourage you, my Dear Friend, to forget about worrying if you have something intimate to share with others but are afraid of it. I know it won’t be easy.
Treat such experience as a way of developing and growing.
Undoubtedly, it will require you to get out of your comfort zone. Treat it as a lesson. After publishing an uneasy work of art, you will feel relief. Refrain from expecting money for it. The best option for me regarding art creation is to forget about money. Focus on your feelings and what you want to share with others. The more I write about it, the more I realize publishing the “Farewell” work was somewhat a katharsis for me. That will be the end of my writing about a piece of advice.
