Abandoned planets.

Are there abandoned planets in the most remote nooks of the Universe?

I wrote this post on the 20th of July, 2022. It was a day when the second heatwave of the summer of 2022 struck Poland. During the last few days, news in Poland presented pictures of the Polish dried river, San. This leads my thoughts to wonder whether human civilization indeed destroys the whole planet Earth and all species living here. Will climate change kill us all with global warming? I do not know. Still, I can imagine there are abandoned planets in other galaxies where similar occurrences could happen. For example, the motif of abandoned worlds and lost civilizations is presented by Stanislaw Lem in some of his science-fiction novels.

Moreover, there is a theory saying that an intelligent civilization’s self-destruction is the final process of developing such a civilization.

This theory could also answer why we did not communicate with the Aliens. When I think that heat waves spreading across Europe could be the result of anthropomorphic doings, I start to imagine that we are on the best way to self-destruct ourselves. Still, faith is something that no one will ever take away from me. That’s why I believe that people would survive on Earth. On the other hand, perhaps stars wrote a scenario for human civilization. Perhaps, our destiny is to abandon Earth and colonize other planets. Maybe, we would have to do it because life on Earth will not be possible anymore. Usually, there are questions and doubts about all these issues. I will leave you, my Dear Friend, with these doubts.

PS

I do not know if it is possible, but I hope that the James Webb Space Telescope will provide some clues if there are abandoned planets out there. Who knows what the future holds…
