Today, I will write about street photography.
The more I immerse myself in street photography on the same streets, the more I am filled with the joy of discovering infinite ways to photograph the same places and objects. It’s a constant journey of finding new perspectives in the familiar, a never-ending adventure that keeps me excited and eager to explore. I wrote this text on the 10th of August, 2024, in the middle of summer. It was a day when I was doing street photography. I did it in my beloved Warsaw district – Mokotow. It is the place where I live. I would name it the center of the Universe, but only when I am there.
Still, the truth is that when I was strolling today, I took pictures on the streets I saw umpteenth time earlier.
I did it during winter, fall, and spring. Also, I took photos on Mokotow streets in the early morning, at noon, and in the evening. Today, when I was walking, I memorized some of my previous works and reminded myself that, indeed, there are endless ways to photograph the same places and objects. The more I do street photography, the more I am fascinated by reality’s infinite ways of photographing it. That’s why it still does not bore me. On the contrary, the more I engage in street photography, the more it intrigues me by the evolving nature of familiar scenery.
My process of doing street photography will continue until the end of my life (or until my health permits).
I often ponder over how it is possible to photograph the same places for the umpteenth time. It’s because the scenery will always be different, even if seemingly the same. Light will be different, buildings will be older, trees will be more giant, or new elements will appear in the frame (e.g., a human or a piece of trash). I will finish this writing about street photography. I took more than 11k steps, and I must go to sleep.
