Today (I wrote this text on the 23rd of October, 2024), I will write some thoughts about wisdom.
Doesn’t wisdom consist in the gradual realization of how stupid a person is and how little he knows? Can’t we call the process of realization learning? After all, the more we know, the more we realize how much there is to know. After all, it is common knowledge that man learns all his life. It is a never-ending process. We know that we know nothing; I could paraphrase Socrates’ quote. Still, I believe that knowing it and constantly realizing how much knowledge we can still acquire is one of the highest levels of self-awareness. Perhaps it is also one of the possible ways to be a happy man. The truth is that all people do not know many things and do not have to. It is not the case that we have limited abilities and capabilities to understand many issues profoundly.
I believe we do not have to know everything to be happy.
I simply feel it. Of course, it does not mean we should stop reading, learning, talking to others, or traveling (I think these are the best ways to know the surrounding world). On the contrary, if something interests you, my Dear Friend, I want to encourage you to dive deep into knowledge about the specific topic that makes you fly. Still, knowing our limitations and the fact that it is simply impossible to understand everything is one of the best ways to realize one’s soul. That’s why I treat the process of learning as fun. I read books for fun. I do not want to become the most intelligent guy in the Universe because it does not interest me at all. I am curious about the surrounding reality, but I always remember I won’t learn everything. Undoubtedly, knowing everything would be one of the worst nightmares people could encounter.
