Adapt to reality by changing yourself. This power lies within you, my Dear Friend, and I believe it’s a force that can shape your world.
You have the power to change yourself, but you have minimal options to change what surrounds you. In today’s text, I do not want to remind you, not only you, my Dear Friend, but also myself, of the fact that we all have minimal possibilities to change others and events. Indeed, we have limited opportunities to change ourselves. Sometimes, while writing, I wonder if I write for myself or for others. Sometimes, I think I write more for myself. By writing to my imaginary “Dear Friend,” perhaps I try to convince or reassure myself about some things.
Today (I wrote this text on the 12th of June, 2025), I want to remind myself that I should constantly adapt to reality and not force anything that is outside me.
Even forcing things that are in me should be done carefully. For example, I believe if we do not believe in something, but we are supposed to do it, we should not force ourselves to accomplish it. Or, I will provide you, my Dear Friend, my example regarding rucking. If you believe deeply not only in your mental strength but also in your physical one, you should force yourself to make an effort. Whether it would be a mental effort in your work or a physical one, as in rucking, if you believe in your activities, accomplish and finish them.
For example, today, I did almost 12k steps with a heavy rucksack on my back and shoulders (my backpack weighed 37.5 kg (83 lbs).
Of course, while engaging in this hectic activity, I was also practicing street photography. I took almost two hundred pictures on Warsaw’s streets. Still, during the last twenty minutes of my 2-hours walk, I was praying for the end. I wanted to simply put off my rucksack, take a cold shower, and lie down on my bed without feeling the heavy burden. Still, all the time I tried to adapt to reality.
