Almost four months without buying a book!

May 28, 2023 by Adam Mazek

I wrote this text on the 14th of April, 2022. That day, I realized that it’d been almost four months without buying a book.

The last book I ordered was on the 29th of December, 2021. I bought Paul Duncan’s “The Godfather Family Album. 40 Anniversary Edition” (Taschen) in my favorite bookstore named “Bookoff.” Is that mean that I do not read books? Contrary. I read minimum few pages of minimum one book from my home library. I have too many books, and I read almost all of them simultaneously. The truth is that I already wrote a post named “A desire to buy a book,” in which I wrote that I frequently feel a need to buy a new book. I do not know how it happened, but I bought nothing in the first quarter of 2022, despite sales being held in the “Bookoff” and on the “Taschen” official website. Why did it happen?

Money is not the case. The truth is that I do not complain about my financial situation.

I suppose that I somehow took control of the process of buying a book. I plan to purchase many of them throughout my lifetime. Still, I am focusing on reading all books I already have in my collection for today. I hope to read most of them. Then, I will sell some or give them to a local library or charity. Perhaps, overcoming weaknesses to buy something is connected with exposing the body to coldness and intermittent fasting. It may be the case. I am glad that I did not buy a single copy and continually read what I already have in my home library. Ok, I will finish this writing. While doing it, I desired to read something from my collection. What would I read? I will read Andreas Marks’ “Japanese Woodblock Prints” (of course, by Taschen).
