You can wonder if I ever made analog photographs. The answer is simple: yes. Today, I would like to write about analog photography briefly. Traditional photography possesses magic.
When we take pictures without the instant possibility to see what we photographed, it compels us to think before we click the shutter. When you do analog photographs, there is a much higher possibility that you will develop your passion faster than using the digital camera.
I genuinely respect and admire people who use this specific technique nowadays.
The analog technique is more complicated than digital photography. In comparison to digital photography, classic photography is old. Its beginnings reach the 20’s of the XIX century. In the same decade, one of my favorite writers was born, Fyodor Dostoyevsky! Developing analog pictures in the darkroom possess magic. Also, it is more complicated than editing digital images in Lightroom or Photoshop. When you close the door in the darkroom and start to work on your analog photographs, the passage of time is changing dramatically.
I would compare it to the situation of Hans Castorp in Thomas Mann’s “The Magic Mountain” book. What I exactly mean? Check here.
Another significant advantage of traditional photography is the quality of the pictures. This quality is better even than images in RAW format. I use this format when I make digital photographs. If analog photography possesses a lot of advantages and is unique and magical at the same time, you can ask why I do not make analog pictures.
The answer is simple: I chose digital photography as my way of self-expression.
For today, my digital camera is my tool, thanks to which I want to say something to the whole world. It’s my way. Of course, maybe someday I will switch entirely to analog photography, but for today, I want digital photography to show me the direction of my artistic way of life.
