The answer is simple: kindergartens and playgrounds.
A lot of worlds famous street photographers would tell you that taking photos of kids on the street is enjoyable. Not for me. I will give you one of the examples of one of the most iconic photographs – Henri Cartier-Bresson. Famous French photographer was indeed a master at taking photos of children in their natural, playful state. Speaking shortly: you can google, my Dear Friend, for example, the picture of the little boy carrying two bottles of wine under his arms. The other classic example of the Master of street photography is the picture of children playing amid ruins in Seville.
The photograph is filled with surprises that challenge even the most keenly observant viewer.
A small army of children play in a very unchildlike environment: some are gazing at the camera, others continue their activities undisturbed. An army of children plays in a very unchildlike neighborhood. Some stare at the camera; others maintain their games without noticing the photographer. The photograph seems to be a collage of cut-out elements rather than an image made with a single click.
These photos are perfect examples of the world-famous images of children on the streets in the primary role.
The Artist knew why he wanted to take pictures of kids playing on the streets, and he did it masterly.
Nevertheless, I am not like Henri Cartier-Bresson. My name is Adam Mazek, and the fact is that when I see children playing on the playgrounds, I prefer to move away from them as soon as possible. I do not have kids. Though, I can imagine what other parents can think of when they see +30 years old man with the camera walking nearby playground or kindergarten. They surely do not feel comfortable at this moment. Neither I.
That is why I avoid kindergartens and playgrounds as much as possible during my photo walks.
On the other hand, the fact is that during walking by bleak apartment houses, meeting kids is a sure thing.
In conclusion, when I go out to take some pictures, I do not want to photograph kids. But the truth is that we can often come across a playground or kindergartens. Unfortunately, the fact is that it annoys me probably more than the possibility of being robbed.
