I wrote the “Another part of me” text while in the middle of our short trip to Zakopane on the 17th of March, 2025.
While being there, I thought about total laziness. Indeed, while being in Zakopane, I forgot about all my daily resolutions. The truth is that from yesterday until tomorrow, I will eat from morning until evening. What is worse, I drink alcohol, I do not expose my body to cold, and I do not do rucking. Undoubtedly, while in Zakopane, I revealed another part of me to myself. The truth is that this part of me (the one eating from dawn till dusk, drinking alcohol, avoiding cold as much as possible, and avoiding heavy weights) rules me throughout our trip to the Polish mountains. Am I mad at myself? Nope.
I clearly remember one of the writings made in one of the best books about intermittent fasting, ‘The Complete Guide to Fasting’ by Dr. Jason Fung, a renowned expert in the field.
In these writings, Dr. Jason Fung clearly stated that our lives can be divided into two parts: fasting and feasting periods. The case is that the first one should be our day-to-day way of life. The second, the part where people eat from morning till evening, should be an exception. Reflecting on this, I realize that these moments of indulgence are not just about breaking my routine, but also about enjoying life and the experiences it offers.
Today, while in the capital of the Polish mountains, I make exceptions not only in my way of eating but also in exposing my body to cold or rucking. Speaking shortly, I behave like over 90% of all the other people. I eat sugar, drink alcohol, wear warm clothes, and avoid unnecessary weights in my rucksack. Of course, once we return to Warsaw, I will return to my usual way of life. Still, for now, I will drink the last beer and eat some chocolate sweets that I avoid throughout over 95% of my days.
