On the 13th of September, 2023, I found another unpublished post from the past.
The name of another unpublished post from the past is “Garbage.” I do not know why I omitted it. I cannot explain it. The only thing I know is that I wrote it on the 5th of December, 2019. Now, I will publish it without reading and hesitation. Why? Because I do not want to censor myself. I wonder if omitting it was made by accident or self-censoring. Still, I know I want to share all my thoughts, no matter what they say.
Ladies and gentlemen, please read the “Garbage” text:
As you undoubtedly noticed, my Dear Friend, I often display pictures of garbage. Does it mean I am walking from one waste bin to another and searching for something? No, I do not seek anything in waste bins. I love walking through the streets of Warsaw and taking pictures of almost everything I see, including garbage. The set of images, named “Garbage,” is a call to all producers of AGD equipment, car producers, and so on to take full responsibility for their product, starting from production and ending with recycling of their product.
I am not a technology specialist.
Still, when I see garbage on the streets of Warsaw, I often wonder whether producers could start producing their products with a much longer life cycle. I think that they can do that. Imagine a world where our products last longer, reducing waste and benefiting the environment. I believe it is possible to start creating products much more prolonged than today’s helpful life. I can easily imagine that such production would not be economical enough for all the AGD, car, etc. markets.
Nevertheless, the world’s environment is changing rapidly.
Responsibility for it should not be placed solely on single humans, like me and you, my Dear Friend, but on the whole society, including the most prominent manufacturers. Not only individual humans but also the most giant corporations must take responsibility for the environment. The first company that will start to produce, for instance, a washing machine with a lifespan of 25 years and begin marketing such a product in the long term will be a winner.
Or, I should be grateful for them because they produced so many goods that later became a visible part of the cityscape.
Speaking briefly, without the most significant manufacturers, the artwork “Garbage” would never appear. I acknowledge the role of these producers in shaping our environment. The fact is that I would prefer to live in a cleaner city than walk through it and also take photographs like those presented in this work of art.
