Have you ever considered that from any point on Earth, there’s a potential for an exciting photograph?
It’s a thought that often crosses my mind, sparking a sense of curiosity and wonder. Speaking shortly: I believe that literally, from any point on Earth, we can take at least one exciting photograph. Often, when I’m standing at a traffic light, I indulge in the following game. Whenever I stand and wait for the green light to pass the street, I wonder if I can take a great picture from this particular point on Earth.
The answer is the same: I can always take a good shot each time I stand at a traffic light.
Sometimes, I can take exciting photos of other people or try to find a minimalistic and geometric frame on the asphalt, where shadow, rain, or snow can also play a crucial role in the overall composition. Also, when the bus is coming, and I am standing still, I can try to capture my reflection in the bus’ glass windows or doors. Or, I can look up to the sky to photograph birds or simply take pictures of street lamps with the architecture in the background.
As you can see, my Dear Friend, there are almost infinite possibilities for taking photos while standing at the traffic light.
It’s a testament to the fact that great photos can be found in any location, not just the most picturesque ones. Knowing it, I am convinced there are no wrong places for street photography. We can always try to find a great frame to photograph wherever we stand, whether we wait for the green light to pass the street in the big city or whether we stand in the center of nowhere where ostensibly nothing can catch our sight.
When anything is incorrect to photograph, I believe it is a great moment to notice that each part of surrounding mundane reality is excellent to eternalize.
Of course, all these comments do not refer to the beauty and attractiveness of exotic places like Egypt, Mexico, or Australia for tourists. In general, most things interest us when we are abroad, so we want to picture as many things as possible. Almost all new things attract our eyes. Still, I believe the most challenging task is to take a great picture while standing at the nearest to your home traffic lights. Remember, my Dear Friend, that we can take at least one great photo from any point on Earth.
