Photography is not limited to those with expensive equipment. Anyone with a camera phone can capture the world around them.
In the third decade of the XXI century (I wrote this text on the 26th of July, 2023), I want to say aloud that anyone with a camera phone is a photographer. During the day when I wrote this post, I was doing street photography in the summer rain. Most people were running away from the rain so as not to get soaked. I did the contrary. I enjoyed walking in the warm rain. How cold was it? It was 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). While walking and photographing in unusual (as for the middle of summer in Poland) meteorological circumstances, I noticed one woman taking photos of the leaves.
She was crouched down, her phone held close to the ground, capturing probably the raindrops on the leaves.
Of course, I suppose these were wet leaves. When I saw her, I realized (not the first time in my life) that all the people possessing smartphones with a simple camera are photographers. Undoubtedly, the woman mentioned above was instead an artist-photographer. Few people take photos of the green leaves standing in the rain and getting soaked. That woman proved to me that my ostensible insanity of walking in the rain and taking pictures of almost everything I see is one of the magical things we can do for ourselves and worldwide societies. Without having fun, The Beatles would never have composed so many great songs.
They benefitted not only themselves but also millions of other people (other millions have yet to be born).
I have already written a text stating there is no street photography without having fun. Having fun is a catalyst for creativity. Singing, dancing, painting, drawing, taking pictures with a camera phone, all these things make us enjoyable. If we share some creative ideas with others, great things can happen. Believe me, my Dear Friend, with a camera phone, you are a photographer and artist. It is only up to you whether you will find, nourish, and cherish hidden powers that are already in your mind, heart, and soul.
