Aren’t you cold, Sir?

I received the title question (“Aren’t you cold, Sir?“) from a bunch of children as I walked the streets of Warsaw on the 18th of December, 2022.

At that time, it was -4 degrees Celsius (24,8 degrees Fahrenheit), and there was snow on the streets of Warsaw. I saw amazement on young people’s faces. Most of them could not say anything. Only one of them asked me the titled questions. I replied that I was Okay, and I went further without going into a chat with the kids. I must admit I was somehow proud of myself. Perhaps these kids would tell other kids tomorrow they saw a guy walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures. I try to imagine what I would say if I were a kid, seeing a similar guy.

Perhaps I would say nothing. Undoubtedly, I would be amazed.

I wrote the current text on the 19th of December, 2022. Within the upcoming days, it should be warmer, above-freezing temperature. Am I content from my walkings wearing summer clothes in frigid temperatures within the last days? Yes, I am. I did not walk every day. Still, I have no doubts that to appreciate something, one must miss something. If I walked each day, a routine would appear in my activities. While writing all these things, I realized I would have more time to stroll between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I plan to use my spare time, among others, to do street photography while walking in the chilling cold.

The temperatures should be higher than freezing ones. Still, I will do what I love to do, no matter the weather outside. The desire to walk among Warsaw’s streets and take pictures of whatever I see is something stuck to my mind, heart, and soul, and it does not want to go away. The truth is that I want to cultivate this feeling until the end of my life, no matter what others would tell me while doing it.
