On the 19th of April, 2024, I wrote short book reviews. Why did I do it?
I did it because my employer (remember, my Dear Friend, I work in a broadly defined finance area, with accountancy at the forefront) organized a contest to write a review. The winner will get a free entry to the Vivelo Book Fair, which will take place in May 2024. I did not do it to win this contest. Even if I win, I am still determining whether I will attend this book fair. I prefer walking and doing street photography. I wrote reviews to check how efficiently I would write them. Also, the winner’s book review will appear on my employee’s bookshelf. I want to share some unique ideas with other people. That was the main reason why I decided to participate in the contest. In today’s text, I will provide three short book reviews I submitted to the competition:
1) Sun and Moon (Phaidon):
If you have issues in life, this book can help you gain a proper perspective on all problems, whether at the microscale of each individual or humankind’s problems. This book is a reminder that no matter how complex problems may seem, tomorrow always comes with the Sun lighting the sky.
2) The World Atlas of Street Photography (Thames&Hudson):
This book reminds us that creative souls live in each of us. It can inspire us to take great pictures near our homes or workplaces. We do not have to wait for anything to eternalize the beautiful reality surrounding us. Take your smartphone and photograph whatever attracts your sight.
3) What Great Paintings Say. 100 Masterpieces in Detail (Taschen):
If your eyes are tired of watching and analyzing Excel files, take this book in your hand, relax, and move your imagination to another world—the world of human ingenuity and inventiveness. Who knows—perhaps a great artist is present with us, and this album will help to spark creative potential.
