Book sales were coming.

I wrote this text on the 1st of February, 2023. It was a day when I realized that book sales were coming.

The first book sale will be tomorrow, the 2nd of February. Taschen, my favorite publishing house, will organize it. The second book sale will arrange the Bookoff, my favorite Polish bookstore with English books. The beginning will be on the 11th of February. Do I plan to buy something in these upcoming book sales? I do not know. Undoubtedly, before hitting the “Buy” button, I will ask myself twice whether I need this particular copy. I had various periods of buying books throughout my whole life. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I bought more books than usual.

I suppose it happened because when I imagined the perspective of being locked down in my own house, I knew I had to have something to read to not get crazy.

On the other hand, I also had a four-month period when I did not buy a single book. Today, I do not have any particular expectations regarding the purchase of the book. Undoubtedly, I won’t purchase the XL Taschen editions. Why? Because I do not have enough space in my house to keep such books (I already have seven).

Moreover, they could be more practical. When I read, I often lie down on my couch. The XL editions are too heavy and oversized to read them, lying on the sofa comfortably. The truth is that I must focus on reading everything I have today. That’s why I do not put any pressure on myself regarding buying new stuff. I still have many copies to read. Most of them I read partially. Undoubtedly, during the Bookoff sale, there will be a discount for not only Taschen books but also many other great publishers. While writing about all these things, I would like to know whether some of Phaidon’s or Thames & Hudson’s books will be discounted.
