No, I was not born in the USA. My name is Adam Mazek, not Bruce Springsteen. I was born in Poland. Nevertheless, when I sometimes come back in my memories when I was in the US, I remember one thought that stuck to my mind after my return to my homeland.
When I came back from the US to Poland, my thoughts were something like this:
The United States of America is the only country in which I could live, except Poland.
I was in the US in 2006. I flew there with my colleagues (whom I would like to greet right now!) in the Work and Travel program. We were students. We were working in the print factory in the beautiful West Virginia state. I remember those times as classic, good days. Of course, I mentioned in one of my previous posts that the good old days are today. Today I want to maintain my statement.
Nevertheless, visiting the US was magic and a tremendous experience for me.
Besides West Virginia, I was able to see such cities as Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York City. I was ready to visit my lovely family in this last city, who lives in NYC since the late ’60. Of course, it is also the moment where I would like to greet them. Also, I would like to thank you for your warm welcome!
As I stated in the first part of my sentence, the USA is probably the only country where I could live. New York City, thanks to the prevailing, widespread American culture (with cinema, music, and broadly defined art in the lead), which reaches practically every corner of our world, was a familiar place for me. I felt in NYC as in my hometown. Regarding NYC, I love watching Madonna’s video clip, “Papa don’t preach.” For me, it is an essence of the American pop culture of ’80.
In conclusion, I want to state that, in general, the US is, for me, quite the right place to live. Nevertheless, I was not born there, and I hope to live in Poland until the end of my life.
PS
Once again, I would like to greet my family and colleagues mentioned above!
