I wrote this post on the 25th of November 2020. During the morning that day, there was chilling cold outside.
I already wrote many posts concerning the weather. The fact is that for street photographers, the weather is a crucial factor in making decisions of whether one should go outside and take photos or stay at home and read a book. I am not an exception. Weather is critical for me in making such decisions. Still, I believe that I am different than many other photographers. As far as I know, most people prefer warm, sunny weather. The best for such people would be a situation if there would be a hot summer day for almost the whole year. The fact is that I am an exception.
When I felt on the 25th of November 2020 a chilling cold, I started to imagine myself walking through Warsaw’s snowy streets with a camera in my hand, in the freezing and winter scenery. I do not remember when I last was walking through the snow with minus temperature degrees. It was probably between 2017 and 2018.
I miss cold weather and chilling cold.
For me, there is probably one disadvantage of taking photos in the freezing cold. I have to prepare myself and my clothes for the walk longer than during hot summer days. Still, walking while the hot sun is burning my skin is not a real pleasure for me. The absolute joy is when I feel the freezing cold on my face and in my lungs after going out of my home. I love to warm up myself by walking faster at the beginning of my photo walk in the chilling cold, and then during warming up, decreasing my pace. On the other hand, I sweat immediately during summer walks. Speaking shortly: for me, chilling cold is one of the best options for taking walks.
