Last time I was thinking about publishing pictures in color.
Did you get mad? Do you want to present your pictures in color?
Undoubtedly you could ask me, my Dear Friend. Perhaps I went crazy. The fact is that since the early stage of taking regular photographs on the streets of Warsaw, I decided that I will present my pictures as black and white photography. By writing black & white photography, let’s say that it is an agreed term because we all probably know that B&W photography possesses a broad spectrum of grey color. Why did I choose black and white colors? For me, they are dreamlike pictures. When we see tone on photos, it can tell us about, e.g., the time when it was taken. Thus, if we make, for example, documentary photography, color is something worth presenting to others.
Nevertheless, in my artistic approach, color is something that can distract from the primary interpretation of the image.
Presenting pictures in B&W is my conscious choice. Moreover, it is essential to possess a recognizable style of images. I hear more and more that all photographers and artists should maintain their unique artistic voice of expression feeling in their works of art. Black and White color is my choice.
Do I plan to publish pictures full of colors in the future?
Yes, probably it will happen someday. Still, I do not know when. The fact that as of today (I wrote this post on 29th of November 2019), I possess almost 1300 images where color plays an essential role. Thus, I believe that it is only a matter of time when I make a publication titled, for example, “Mazek in color.” Nevertheless, I haven’t scheduled it. Thus, I do not know when it happens. Colors are encouraging me to get familiar with them, but I wait for a proper moment to do it.
