Today (I wrote this text on the 5th of July 2023), I will provide some insights regarding “Diaries'” covers.
The truth is that every time I start preparing the next “Diaries” issue, I worry there won’t be a good photo for the cover. Fortunately, each time, the fears are baseless. I think choosing and designing covers for subsequent “Diaries” editions is one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole process. It is not the case I do not enjoy other parts of “Diaries” preparations. Indeed, I love translating my thoughts (from my original posts written in English into my mother tongue, Polish), modifying text, translating the modified part into English, and then mixing content on the Visme App to create the final “Diaries” edition. How do I choose a cover for each edition of my journal?
As mentioned above, I generally do it at the beginning of the process.
I look at all the posts from the period for which my journals will be created, and I choose some of the best picture candidates to be considered as covers. Then, I prepare initial projects for the Polish and English editions. For today, I prepared forty-five editions of my journal. Is it a large number or a minor? It differs. Sometimes, it is a large number. After all, considering that the average number of pages on each “Diaries” is twenty, we can easily count (on the Excel file) that I already have 900 pages for the album to print. Even if I make a selection of texts and pictures and publish 30% of it, I still have 270 pages to print. That’s why 45 editions is a significant amount.
On the other hand, I feel it is only the beginning of my creative journey.
I hope I will do much more. What will the cover of the final “Diaries” editions published by Taschen be in the future? Only the future knows the answer. But I’m excited about the possibilities and the potential for growth and innovation in my work. I’m committed to pushing the boundaries of “Diaries” publication and creating even more engaging and visually stunning editions in the future.
