Dimensional identity.

February 28, 2026 by Adam Mazek

I want to have a dimensional identity. What does this mean?

It means that when asked who I am, I can provide not one but many answers. For example, I can tell that I am a photographer, accountant, blogger, writer, artist, influencer, intermittent fasting enthusiast, cold exposure advocate, and rucking/fitness fanatic. Each of these roles and interests has added a unique dimension to my life. I do not want to be pigeonholed by other people. When I try to answer the questions of who I am, and I cannot provide a straightforward answer, I am truly glad of myself. This freedom of a multifaceted identity is liberating and empowering.

Why are you glad that you cannot precisely describe and tell who you are? Isn’t it a midlife crisis, an identity crisis, or something like that?

Undoubtedly, you could ask me, my Dear Friend. I believe that one-dimensionality is simply dull. If someone is a worker and does nothing besides working hard at the construction site, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, watching TV, and partying, for me, such a person would be somewhat dull. Still, if one has a strange fascination, it can really excite me.

Strange fascination, fascinating me.

It was not me who sang these words, but David Bowie in one of his greatest tunes, “Changes.” By the way, wasn’t Bowie the one who was developing and changing his artistic identity? After all, wasn’t he a Ziggy Stardust? Then, he was also changing his identity? Were David Bowie and his works of art boring? I think the answer is obvious. For me, David Bowie is one of the most outstanding examples of how dimensional identity can add much to one’s personal/creative/life growth. I want to encourage you, my Dear Friend, to explore not only the external world, but also the internal one. Also, I want to encourage finding childish joy in the process. Have fun and be like a kid seeking his own identity. Embrace the joy of self-discovery and let it inspire you.
