When asked if I believe in God, I will answer that I do not believe in the chaos from which the Universe was allegedly born by chance.
I often ask myself a titled question. The fact is that no one knows whether such an abstract notion as „God” exists. The Catholic vision of an old, bearded man who loves all his children is an exceptionally compelling vision of someone who created and rules the world. Indeed, I do not believe that everything surrounding us, starting from atoms to enormous galaxies, appeared coincidentally. I do not think chaos created the whole Universe. If not the accident or chaos, who or what created our Universe? I am convinced that humanity will never find out. The limited capacity of our brains and limited cognitive abilities prevent us from knowing the Universal truth.
Without a doubt, no one ever will present a final proof of whether God exists or not.
For me, the possibility of walking throughout forests, fields, the opportunity of hearing birds’ singing, the ability to observe surroundings, whether we are in our place of living, or the mountains, or by the sea, all these things are proof that this world did not appear by accident. Someone had to design it. There must be an architect of the Universe who, with divine powers, created everything we see and experience.
Moreover, symbolically, I believe that all acts of creation: whether we talk about a newborn man or the action of creating a work of art (e.g., song or painting), bring humans closer to the divine part of our world.
I believe that someone or something gave us to this world with an unknown, for us, purpose. I think humans’ responsibility is to find this target, even if we know that we never do that. The key to finding a sense of people’s life lies in a broad definition of the „creation” word.
