There is one detail of the cityscape that I never photograph — dog poop.
I wrote this text on the 26th of April, 2023. It was a day when I did not know what I wanted to write. I decided to think about street photography. What themes could I provide regarding this artistic genre? I asked myself whether there was something on the street I would never photograph. Firstly, I told myself that there are no such things. I thought I could photograph everything that appeared before my eyes. Suddenly, I realized that I was wrong. That’s how I started to write a “Dog poop” text. Speaking shortly: I’ve never photographed a dog poop and probably will never do it. I wanted to name this something like “I will photograph everything while walking on Warsaw’s streets.”
Still, when I realized I wouldn’t photograph a dog poop, I decided to change the title of this text.
I do not know what else I could write about dog poop. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most seen details in Warsaw’s cityscape’s detail. Of course, pet owners are legally obliged to clean poop out of the lawn. Still, I am afraid that many of them do not do it. While writing about all these things, I wondered whether there were additional objects and details I would not photograph if I encountered them.
Perhaps corpses?
I’ve never found human remains, and I hope I will never find them. Still, sometimes I walk in such strange places that, in my imagination, I can see that somewhere there lie human corpses. Did I get crazy? Perhaps I did. Maybe the fact that I write a text about dog poop is proof of my madness. I do not know. Undoubtedly, many people do much worse things in their lives. Who? For example, the Russian Orcs, who are still invading Ukraine.
