Drinking alcohol worsens and decreases one’s mental and physical abilities.
It’s not just a theory but a reality I’ve faced in the Latvian town of Liepaja. The title of this text is not groundbreaking. We all know that drinking alcohol worsens and decreases one’s mental and physical abilities. I wrote this text on the 19th of June, 2025. It was a day when I could write that I had been drinking alcohol for the 5th day in a row. Am I proud of myself? Of course not. Still, I am on vacation in the Latvian town of Liepaja. I knew we (together with my beloved Kamilka) would be drinking alcohol and feasting before we went to Latvia.
Going abroad on a trip is a moment when we can let loose and forget about all the strict rules regarding eating and drinking.
I think we call it a “cheat day.” Nevertheless, it is not a day, but rather a week, because we plan to stay in Liepaja for another three days. My conclusion about drinking alcohol is that it does not offer any benefits. Of course, it is a short, fleeting pleasure that makes people relaxed. Nevertheless, I cannot imagine doing it regularly during weekends. Undoubtedly, I would not be able to write texts, work in my office job, do street photography, and carry a 37.5 kg rucksack on my back and shoulders. I think that when we return to Poland and when I go rucking, I will put smaller amounts of kilograms on my back and shoulders. Why? Because I already feel I am weaker. I believe the first two rucking walks will include ~30 kg of the backpack.
Then, I would return to 37.5 kg.
What about my mental abilities to think and write? As you see, my Dear Friend, I am still able to write in the English language. Still, I know that I cannot drink for more than a week, and luckily, we do not go on trips each month. I think I’ve already written a text that I do not need to travel to take great pictures and feel happy. Why? In short, I consider myself a happy person who does not need anything external to be content.
