Dry fasting.

June 7, 2025 by Adam Mazek

Today (I wrote this text on July 7, 2024), I decided to dry fast for the next 24 hours.

Am I suicidal? Perhaps I am. Still, the truth is that during the last few weeks, I have been watching Dr. Eric Berg’s movies about intermittent fasting. The truth is that I’ve been doing intermittent fasting since Christmas 2020. All the time, I was doing the so-called water fasting (I drank water, coffee, tea, and broth during fasting, and I did not eat earlier than 7 p.m.). Today, I decided to upgrade my way of fasting. Indeed, it will be another experiment I would perform on my body. I’ve never done a dry fasting, and I do not know how my organism would react. If I were dying of thirst, undoubtedly, I would drink water.

I started my dry fasting at 9 p.m. on July 7, 2024.

While writing this text fragment, I was already on the third hour of the dry fast. I am still determining what to expect. Still, I am curious about this experiment. The truth is that millions of Muslims throughout the years were and still practicing dry fasting. They generally feel better while doing it. I know my mind is telling me that I probably did something wrong to myself. I’ve been bombarded throughout all the years with the idea that we must drink water to not get dehydrated.

Still, I remember that before I started doing intermittent water fasting, I remember I was also afraid of dying from hunger. Undoubtedly, throughout the millennials, human organisms got used to both famine and drought periods. Without it, our civilization would have gone many years ago. In one of his movies about dry fasting, Dr. Eric Berg (and not only him!) stated that it is an autophagy on steroids. I am simply curious how many hours without water I could function.
