Where do I see masterpieces each day?
I have written many times that I have a pretty extensive collection of books. These are not only Taschen books but also Phaidon or Thames & Hudson. Most of them are about broadly defined art. There are many great masterpieces in all these books. I try to reach out to at least one of these books daily. Even if I am too tired to read, I always try to admire my eyes and feed my sense of sight by watching, analyzing, and contemplating many works of art made throughout centuries. Still, can we see masterpieces only in art books, galleries, or museums? Such a question I asked myself on the 21st of October, 2023. It was a day when I was doing street photography.
I made 15k footsteps. I was hungry for walking and for feeding my sense of sight.
While walking, I realized everything I saw on Warsaw’s streets was a true masterpiece. Even the most mundane objects, like litter, seemed to me as something beautiful and otherworldly. How is it possible? I do not know. Perhaps the answer is simple and straightforward: our world, planet, and life are one divine and eternal miracle, a true masterpiece made for us to feel, sense, and see. That’s why I believe not only me but also you, my Dear Friend, each day to observe masterpieces, even though you do not have to go to art galleries or read art books.
Open your mind and eyes, and you will find miracles and works of art everywhere.
I was not in the middle of a war. Still, I know (e.g., from books) that small miracles happen even in the middle of hell. Tomorrow, I plan to also do street photography and observe masterpieces in the capital of Poland. I wish you, my Dear Friend, to see as many artworks as possible in your house and neighborhood.
