Eat, drink, live vs. Eat, drink, sleep.

December 8, 2024 by Adam Mazek

A few days ago (I wrote the current text on the 18th of November, 2023), I noticed one of Warsaw’s restaurant advertising slogans. It sounded like “Eat, drink, live.” When I spotted it, I changed it in my mind to “Eat, drink, sleep.”

My version is more realistic, I believe. I know my point of view regarding eating is unpopular. After all, mindless consumption and appetite for more (money, things, food, practically everything) fuel capitalistic economies. But the longer I do intermittent fasting (I started it after Christmas 2020), the more I know it is true that one wants to sleep after feasting full of food and drink. It does not mean one does not want to live after dining. After all, for me, sleep is life’s essence. In today’s post, I want to stress that after eating, one usually has a decrease in energy, not an increase. Do TV and ads we see everywhere (e.g., on the Internet or on the streets) lie? Of course, often, they do.

But I urge you, my Dear Friend, not just to trust my words.

Check everything I write on yourself. Experience, practice, ask, doubt, and question everything you read on my blog. If you are hungry, if you eat regularly, and if you feel well, do what your body tells you. The same issue is with coldness. If you do not desire to expose your body to cold, do not do it. Still, if you wanna try fasting, taking cold showers, or walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures, do not read my blog. Better reach out to Dr. Jason Fung regarding fasting and Wim Hof regarding his experience with cold.

Live, eat, drink, and sleep as you want and desire.

Remember, you have your own mind, and I appeal to use it as often as possible. I try to use my mind as frequently as possible. That’s why I do intermittent fasting (I eat between 7 p.m. and 12 p.m.) and expose my body to cold (by taking freezing showers and walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures).
