Emptiness on the streets.

March 6, 2021 by Adam Mazek

During the coronavirus pandemic, there was an emptiness on the streets.

In July 2018, I wrote in the post named “Weather” about how difficult it was for me to get used to the increased number of people on the streets of Warsaw in the early spring, after the end of winter. The beginning of 2020 was an exception. There was a lot of emptiness on the streets because of the coronavirus pandemic. People merely could not walk out, or they did not want because they were scared of being infected.

Indeed, the epidemic period was a strange time. There were actually far fewer people on the streets than usual.

I wrote this post on the 5th of June, 2020. The fact is that the epidemic, in my beloved Poland, continues to exist. It is also a fact that from the beginning of March 2020, lots of cars disappeared from the streets of Warsaw. Surprisingly, for two months, there was a small traffic jam in the city. Comparing two periods from my posts, that is of July 2018 when the streets were crowded, and the period equal to the coronavirus pandemic, which scenario is better for me? Definitely the one from 2018. I would prefer that there was no epidemic.

Moreover, I want other people (including me) to walk the streets whenever we want to.

Most people usually walk when it is safe and when the weather is beautiful. I am not an exception. I also do like walking when the weather is warm and when it is not rainy.

Nevertheless, the fact is that I also love rain, snow, and freezing cold. Probably only high temperatures can discourage me from walking. And what about emptiness on the streets? Well, I wish all of us the possibility to walk, as much as possible. Moreover, I hope other humans to see crowds on the streets, not void. I think that majority of people cannot live without other human beings.
