Endurance limit.

January 16, 2024 by Adam Mazek

I am only a human. The truth is that I have my own endurance limit regarding exposing my body to cold.

I wrote this text on the 18th of November, 2022. Yesterday, I reached my endurance limit when I walked in frigid temperatures, wearing summer clothes without a winter cap and gloves. It was -2 degrees Celsius (28,4 degrees Fahrenheit). After 40 minutes of my night walk, my fingertips hurt too much, and they were too stiff to even take a selfie on my iPhone. I managed to do it, but I could not imagine doing street photography with my fingertips, which I did not feel. That’s why I know I reached my endurance limit for today. I know I will be doing street photography (walking for more than two hours) with a winter cap and gloves. I need it to be able to focus on taking pictures. Still, I am not a demigod.

I believe it will be enough for today when I walk in freezing temperatures wearing a winter cap and gloves.

The truth is that I do not have to prove anything to anyone. That’s why I want to stress today that I reached my endurance limit, and there is nothing wrong with that. Does that mean I plan to stop exposing my body to frigid temperatures? Of course, I plan to continue doing it. I will be simply walking and wearing a winter cap and gloves. Still, I will also be wearing summer clothes, including the www.adammazek.com t-shirt. While writing all these things, I started to realize it was the beginning of my romance with coldness. After all, it’s been more than one year and a month since I began wearing summer clothes, exposing my body to cold. I can take my time doing all these things. They should bring joy like street photography and writing do.
