Everybody’s Talkin’

November 4, 2020 by Adam Mazek

One song from John Schlesinger’s “Midnight Cowboy” movie, named “Everybody’s Talkin’,” sang by Harry Nilsson, inspired me to write this post.

In general, the whole soundtrack from “Midnight Cowboy” movie is magnificent. The “Everybody’s Talkin'” song is a cherry on the top. The chorus of the song is merely magical. Like the singer, I believe that I am going to a sunny land, through the pouring rain. The similar dreams possess one of the heroes of the film named Rico “Ratso” Rizzo, played by Dustin Hoffmann.

What’s more, I believe that something new, something different, something out of this world (or maybe heavenly) awaits everyone at the end of their living path.

I believe that something is waiting for us after our death. I also think that there are worlds in which the human soul will find true eternal peace and relief. Do I believe in a Catholic God who, after our death, would behave like a Chief Accountant, making a balance of every man’s good deeds and sins? I do not know. Do I believe that we appeared here thanks to aliens who left us here as a result of an accident, or even rape, as Stanisław Lem wrote in “Star Diaries,” or maybe life on earth is someone’s experiment? Once again, I have not any idea. Or, perhaps our whole universe is only chaos, and it started from the chaos? I doubt. As I mentioned at the beginning, I believe that, quoting the “Everybody’s Talkin'” song:

I’m going where the sun keeps shining,

through the pouring rain.

Going where the weather suits my clothes.

Indeed, creating art is one of the best ways to get close to the invisible sun, through the storm, winds, thunders, and pouring rays. Practically always when I do new pictures, write original texts, creating unique art of works (e.g., “Living in Poland”), I feel an incredible boost of endorphins in my body. Thanks to art creating, I merely feel happy.
