Dream

May 15, 2018 by Adam Mazek

One of my dreams is to make my art strictly associated withWarsaw – the capital of Poland. For today, there are a lot of worldwide known artists who were living and creating here. They all inspired me to give this city proper respect.

Frederic Chopin, one of the greatest composers of all the time, for example, completed his musical education and composed his earlier works in Warsaw. Magdalena Abakanowicz, one of the most valued Polish sculptor, was studying and living in Warsaw. Zdzislaw Beksinski, on the other hand, moved to the capital of Poland when he was 48 and spent in Warsaw the rest of his life, which is the next 28 artistically prolific years.

The city government more or less honors all of these artists.

Chopin is already the icon of the city. Abakanowicz, also in the Polish capital, has its place where her sculptures are put in the public space. On the block where Zdzislaw Beksinski lived, there is a small mural that was painted in his honor. When it comes to me, I do not expect anything from the city to help me in boosting my career.

It is me who wants to help the city, by raising it to artistic heights.

I dream of becoming an artist who will be associated with Warsaw. In the same way, as three mentioned-above artists did. I genuinely believe that, paradoxically, thanks to my pictures, a lot of people will like to visit the capital of Poland to see these streets, which we can see in my images.

Nevertheless, I do not want to become a brand like Franz Kafka in Prague.

I wish my pictures would become an artistic portrait of the city. These portraits do not have to bring joy to the viewers’ minds. I instead prefer a melancholic moment of contemplation, which I always try to catch on my images. I want to make Warsaw more famous worldwide than it is currently. To summarize: my aim is not to become a renowned artist. My dream is to make the capital of Poland as a much valued worldwide city as possible.
