I know that fashion and how people dress can be a real work of art. Nevertheless, this branch of artistry is probably the one that I give the least attention to.
We have many different types of evidence that fashion is, indeed, an art. Creations made by, e.g., Coco Chanel or Yves Saint Laurent, are the proof that clothes and the way how they are being worn, are brilliant craft.
Nevertheless, I personally never got interested in this type of art. I have never been involved in delving into the subject of fashion (e.g., via Taschen books).
Perhaps this is because I do not pay too much attention to what I wear. Plain t-shirts and jeans are clothes that I would like to wear as often as possible. That is why I am not interested in the topic of fashion today. Does this mean that it will stay like this for the rest of my days? I do not know. Maybe there will come a day when I really start to appreciate art connected with the style of clothing. Who knows, perhaps the first step to getting involved in the world of fashion is buying one of the books printed by Taschen, about the clothing style? The fact is that I never buy any specimens. In one of the bookstore in Warsaw (www.bookoff.pl), I could see and analyze one of them. What were my conclusions?
I realized that I am interested in other artistic topics than fashion. What are these topics?
There are many of them: painting, photography, cinema, advertising, science, or architecture, are one of them. I believe that my lack of interest in the style of clothing results from the desire to simplify my own visual look. If it was possible, I would wear t-shirts until the end of my life. Thus, something like fashion never had to exist to me.
