Why taking freezing showers is like fighting with my worst enemy: myself.
The longer I practice it, the more I realize that taking a cold shower is not just a physical act but a mental battle with myself. It’s a journey of personal growth, a fight with my worst enemy-me. The biggest treat for me is me, without a doubt. I do not consider other people my enemies, even if I cannot get along smoothly with some of them. In cold showers, I trust.
I’ve written many texts about this tremendous activity, and I recommend doing it early in the morning; the best option is after waking up. When I get up, I often feel I want to sleep more and longer. Still, when I got up and went to the shower after taking a freezing rain, I do not remember I wanted to sleep fifteen minutes earlier. But why is taking a cold shower like fighting with myself? It is because each cold shower is like getting out of your comfort zone.
We fight with our weaknesses, and in that struggle, we grow.
With each cold shower, we become a more robust human who controls our lives and resists difficulties and adversities. I have similar feelings after walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures. Coldness makes me stronger not only in my body but also in my soul. I overcome my weaknesses while exposing my body to coldness. I wrote this text on the 29th of August, 2023. I hope the summer is slowly ending.
I cannot wait for frigid temperatures to come.
If only circumstances connected with my office work would let me do it, undoubtedly, I would be walking in summer clothes in freezing temperatures as often as possible. If you still have not started your journey with a cold, my Dear Friend, I recommend doing it as soon as possible. Do it for yourself. Fight with yourself, for yourself, for a better tomorrow. It’s a practice that will make you feel more in control, more resilient, and more empowered in your life.
