Today (I wrote this text on the 23rd of July, 2025), I will write about how I found freedom in burden and the unexpected joys of carrying weights.
If you read my blog regularly, my Dear Friend, undoubtedly, you will know what the keyword of this text will be. Yes, it will be rucking. Rucking is walking with an additional burden (for me, it is a rucksack filled with barbell plates). Today, I took over 13k steps with a total weight of 30 kg (66 lbs.) on my back and shoulders. Also, I took over 200 photos. While returning from my office work to my house (that’s why I did not carry the highest possible, as of now, for me, weight of 37.5 kg on my back and shoulders), I started to think that walking is, indeed, the essence of freedom.
The truth is that between the period when I started regularly doing street photography (October 2015) and the moment when I combined it with rucking (it happened on the 18th of August, 2024), almost nine years have passed.
Today, I experience an additional joy and excitement while walking, capturing the essence of mundane life on the streets of Warsaw, and carrying heavy weights on my back and shoulders. I am excited to be doing all these things. Rucking made a more robust human, not only physically, but also mentally. I have no doubt that I strengthened not only my physical, but also my mental power. I am more confident than I was before. I have no doubts that human bodies are created to carry heavy weights.
I feel much better.
Undoubtedly, intermittent fasting, exposing my body to cold, and, last but not least, rucking, improved my health and general well-being. The sense of accomplishment from these physical challenges is truly inspiring. I recommend doing all these things, my Dear Friend. Start doing all these things gradually, at your own pace, and feel reassured and comfortable in your journey. Slowly, you will find freedom from burdens like I did.
