Fluctuations are the inevitable part of every aspect of our life. I believe that practically all things which surround us are in constant change. What is the starting point for writing this blog post?
My weight. I have already written in one of my previous posts that at the beginning of 2011, I weighed 99 kg (~218 pounds). I was 178 cm tall (~5.8 feet). Speaking shortly: I had overweight. To reduce weight, I started to swim regularly. I lost weight to 76 kg (~168 pounds) within one year. Since this time, my weight fluctuates between 78 kg and 82 kg.
When I noticed all these things, I realized that practically the same things happen in all other aspects of surrounding us world. Fluctuations are everywhere.
These things can be connected, for example, with our frame of mind or the relationships with other people. Development and progress in your passion, school, or work can also fluctuate. All these aspects of our lives are in constant change. When we take it into account, we can conclude that there is no need to get excited, neither successes and failures in our life. Significant achievements and fatal defeats are not the only part of our life. Our existence also consists of insignificant and essential shortcomings and small wins.
The philosophy of ancient Roman stoic philosopher Seneca is very close to my heart.
Practically day by day, I try to remind myself of the vision which Seneca presented in one of his philosophical ideas. He wrote about the steady rock placed in the ocean. Thunders from the storm and the waves of the stormy sea often hit and try to destroy this rock. Despite this constant torment, the stone remains calm, as it does not feel the violent behavior of its surroundings. Seneca encourages us to behave like this rock. Practically all the time, I try to remember this visualization, and I try to fulfill the requirements of the ancient philosopher. It is a very challenging task to train it during our daily activities, but I think the more we practice that, the more confident and stable our life will become. Stoicism is undoubtedly one of the ways to reach happiness in our lives.
Back to the fluctuations, I am sure that my creativity is also in constant flux.
I aim to prevent my creative flow from exceeding some maximum and minimum boundaries, e.g., regarding lack of artistic activity. I hope that I will manage to do that. I wish you the same, my Dear Friend. I hope you also will be able to be creative as long as it’s possible. Preferably until the end of your life.
