On the 12th of March 2021, when I was driving from Warsaw to my parents’ home in Brok, I listened to Madonna’s first album. One of the quotes from the “Holiday” song says, “Forget about bad times.”
I already mentioned Madonna’s album (named “Madonna”) in one of my previous posts. I wrote that it would be great to back to the past, that is, to 1983, and listen to the first song, “Lucky Star,” for the first time. Undoubtedly, I would fall in love with Madonna’s naive, childish, straightforward, full of energy and sincere songs. One of them is a “Holiday” song. When I heard the text of the song, that is:
It’s time for the good times.
Forget about the bad times, oh yeah.
I started to wonder about which bad times I should forget. When my personal, intimate proverbial bad times occurred? We all have better and worse periods during our lifetime.Â
Nevertheless, while thinking about all these things, I realized that I cannot point out the bad times in my life. In the short-term, there are many worse periods connected, e.g., with health, family, friends, or work. Still, in the long-term run, all periods in my life I see as magnificent, excellent times, full of joy, energy, and happiness. I cannot point out any bad times in my life during a long-term run. Even if I had bad days and periods and thought that one particular period is terrible, now I see that all these worse terms were periods full of satisfaction and pleasure. I can give you one example, my Dear Friend.
When I was nine, my brother Marcinek died.
Today his death seems to me not as traumatic as it should look like because I remember those times mainly through the prism of Marcinek as a person. I exactly remember his appearance and voice and times spent together. I do not reflect on those times in the light of his death. The truth is that I do not know what should happen to consider the period of my life as the bad times to forget. Probably Vladimir Putin would have to use atomic bombs on Poland so that no one would have survived. Did I mention that the Russian politicians are perhaps the worst enemy of the Polish nation? I hope that there will never be war again between Poles and Russians. I do not want to have any bad times in my life to forget.
