It’s a big world out there. Undoubtedly, we have barely begun the journey called life. Every day I wake up, I wonder what the nearest and furthest future holds both for me and for humans’ civilization.
I often try to imagine how the upcoming day will look like and what the future holds for future generations. For example, I have no doubts that the Coronvirus pandemic and climate change will affect all people’s lives. The open question is how far those changes will influence our existence. On the other hand, when I wake up, do I think of what I will eat in the nearest future, for example, on breakfast? Luckily, I do not have to do it. Intermittent fasting much helped me in organizing my life.
Still, if someone would tell me one year ago (I wrote this post on the 23rd of July, 2021) that in the middle of 2021, I would be eating only supper, I would tell this person that he is stupid. It is one of infinite proves that there is no way to predict what the future holds. Thus, it is impossible to forecast how will, e.g., global economics and politics will shape in the nearest future.
Luckily, we all can dream of what both the nearest and distant future will bring to all of us.
I am convinced about one thing when we talk about the distant future. I have no doubts that there won’t be a perfect political system, ideal societies, and faultless people. Even if bioengineering improves us, it won’t make us immortal and excellent people. Why? Because imperfect humans cannot create something ideal. Do I possess hopes regarding the distant future? Yes, I do. I hope that we will be able to colonize other planets, solar systems, or even galaxies. Moreover, I hope that we will do it thanks to our broadly defined development, not because we will have to leave Earth to move out of the home.
