Fyodor Dostoevsky

Have you ever read Dostoevsky?

If not, I sincerely advise you to do it. I think that reading Dostoevsky is one of the best ways to slow down in our lives.

I often think about reading books like eating food. We all know that there is junk food (often also called fast food) and for me there a lot of positions in the literature that can be compared somehow to junk food. You read it, and after this, you do not gain any benefits. Reading Dostoevsky is the opposite of reading “junk food” of literature. You have to be real patient and focused while studying the masterpieces of Russian author. It’s very likely that the pace of reading will not be as fast as reading the literature of other writers. Is it worth to start this quite long journey? My answer is simple: YES. I am sure that if people read Dostoevsky, there would be much less mental diseases in our societies. I am confident that people would also be much more peaceful, calm, and wiser.

Contemplating Dostoevsky will not bring any answers to your questions regarding the essence of life.

What is more, it will bring you only more questions and doubts. But thinking of it, trying to find your place in this crazy world will undoubtedly improve your self-esteem, self-awareness. It will empower you as a human. I honestly recommend you to borrow some of Dostoevsky’s books from your local library or buy it and just read it. I think it’s worth your effort.

Have a beautiful day,

Adam
