Hard work

June 30, 2018 by Adam Mazek

The idea for today: practically all healthy humans can work very hard. Nevertheless, the minority of us can knowingly and efficiently rest.

Regarding the first sentence. We possess a lot of proof in humankind’s history, that hardworking is a widespread phenomenon. Unfortunately, it often was a very negative occurrence. For example, using the people to slavery work in ancient Egypt, Greece, or Rome was normal. In those hard times, it did not surprise anyone that there are a lot of people who had to sacrifice their whole life for the backbreaking work. The fact is that throughout the ages, some people were forcing others to hard work. What is worse, we should remember that a lot of negative examples we can find in the modern era.

For example:

– slavery of the Africans in both Americas which lasted since the beginning of discovering “West Indies” by Columbus until the XX century;

– abusing locals by the Europeans colonizers all over the world;

– labor camps founded on the remote places of Siberia during the tsardom and communist times of Russia;

– labor camps established by German Nazis before and during the II World War;

– prison camps created by the Mao Zedong’s People’s Republic of China;

– labor camps built by Khmer Rouge in Cambodia;

– labor camps in today’s North Korea.

For me, all these examples are proof that practically all healthy humans can be transformed into a hardworking “machine.” This “machine” will become a slave who has to sacrifice his life for the hard work. Sometimes I think that it could have happened to all of us. No one gave us a possibility to decide when and where we will be born. The systems based on slavery work could squeeze the lifeblood out from every citizen. The one who is not able to do the slavery work will be substituted by others subsequently.

But why do I write about all these things?

I want to stress out that all healthy humans can work very hard. Also, I want to stress that not every one of us can rest and relax properly. Regarding the relaxation, I would genuinely recommend reading one of my previous blog posts, “The Art of Relaxation.” In general, I sincerely suggest you focus on adequate rest. The truth is that if we do not get enough relaxation, our hard work could be useless. If you can relax adequately, you will surely also be efficient in your work. Unfortunately, a lot of us do not pay enough attention to the way of how they rest.
