Since I started to walk in summer clothes in frigid temperatures, I began to sing „Hello coldness, my Old Friend.”
Of course, by doing it, I paraphrase the lyrics of famous Simon & Garfunkel’s song, entitled „The Sound of Silence.” I suppose that most of us like this charming, thought-provoking, and enigmatic tune. Is cold truly my Old Friend? I think I can say so. Undoubtedly, for most of my life, I did not like heat. Hot summer days make me feel exhausted. I cannot say that warm is my enemy because without it and without the Sun, there would be no life on Earth, like without coldness. We should not forget that neither all of us, the people, nor all other powers and phenomena around us (including warmness/coldness, day/night, good habits/bad habits, etc.) cannot be considered as only good or bad. I often praise here, on the www.adammazek.com blog, cold water, and coldness.
Still, I do not forget that people can get drowned in water or freeze to death due to frigid temperatures.
That’s why I should state that warmness and Sun are also my good, old Friends. It is mainly up to us how we adapt to all happenings and events around us. That’s why mental flexibility is something I desire to have. I want to be mentally flexible because I want to adapt to every situation that will take place in my life. Is it possible? I do not think it is possible to be prepared for everything that can happen during our existence. I believe that in one’s life can appear such dire circumstances that can break one’s body, mind, or soul. Still, we can always try to maximize our chances of surviving every issue that will occur in our health. That’s why I am exposing my body to cold. Moreover, that’s why I will be singing with a smile on my face until my death:
Hello coldness, my Old Friend.
