Recently I had a dream about high school. I graduated from High School at Copernicus in Ostrow Mazowiecka.
Does this mean that the night fantasy means something important in my life? No. I don’t believe that dreams tell us anything about the future. Contrary to Fyodor Dostoyevsky, who attracted a lot of attention to his night fantasies, I do not think that night visions are supposed to connect us, for example, with the dead people or with other worlds. It is a fact that I had been dreaming about my late brother, Marcinek, many times throughout my life. Does that mean he’s trying to contact me? No, it instead means that he was undoubtedly someone special to me. Coming back to my dream about high school, I realized that it is probably during high school that all kinds of personalities are mainly formed.
There are, for example, athletes who devote a lot of time and energy to physical development.
High school “jesters” attract attention by doing all sorts of more or less funny pranks. There are nerds who spend most of their time studying. Some students are distinguished by, e.g., expensive clothes or a car. There are loners who, for various reasons, prefer to stay aloof. Can you be a mixture of the above characters? Yes, of course. In fact, each person is an individual that usually cannot be clearly assigned to a given type of high school student. Who was I? It seems to me that I would describe myself as an observer. Indeed, I have always preferred not to be the center of attention but to observe how other people will behave in a given situation.
It seems that photography has become my main passion, proving that I could and still can define myself as a person who simply likes to observe other people’s behavior and surroundings.
There is no photography without observation. Thus, I believe that High School times were crucial to me regarding my photographic future. By the way, it is a perfect moment to greet all people whom I met during High School, no matter who they were and who they are today. What about the dream? I remember that I was talking funny with classmates. Still, I do not remember details.
