Let me take you on a journey of how these two seemingly unrelated things became intertwined in my life. Today (I wrote this text on the 12th of January, 2025), I will write about how pistachios helped me discover rucking.
I started rucking in the middle of August 2024 (as far as I remember, the first time when I walked with a backpack with an additional barbell plate of 10 kg was on the 18th of August). Still, today, while walking in frigid temperatures in summer clothes (it was 1 degree Celsius [34 degrees Fahrenheit]) and having a burden on my back and shoulders of 25 kg (55 lbs), I recalled the day when I was returning from my office job. While walking with quite a heavy rucksack (I think it weighed almost 5 kg [rucksack itself weighed 3 kg, and the laptop and the rest of the equipment weighed 2 kg]), I decided to go to the mall and buy four 1 kg packs of pistachios.
Also, I purchased some additional things.
Thus, my backpack weighed 10 kg. I remember feeling the weight of this burden, and my core muscles hurt slightly after walking with such weight. Also, I felt swollen. It took me 45 minutes to carry this 10 kg burden to my home. I told my beloved Kamilka that my backpack was hefty. I think that’s how AI “heard” about it. Then, YouTube algorithms recommended films about rucking. The rest is history.
These were the beginnings. After watching movies about rucking, I had no doubt that I had to increase the weight of my rucksack to become a more robust human. What are the disadvantages of all these things? Undoubtedly, in the future, it would be difficult for me to buy four 1 kg packs of pistachios and carry them in a rucksack weighing a minimum of 25 kg. That’s why, for today, I prefer to order food to our house, including pistachios.
