I read to know the world and ultimately know myself. The act of reading is not just a means of acquiring knowledge, but a journey of self-discovery.
I believe there are three main ways to learn about the world: reading, talking with others, and traveling. Undoubtedly, I chose the first one to know the world and ultimately know myself. I am curious about the surrounding world. That’s why I read. I want to understand the surrounding world because I want to know myself much better than I knew myself a day earlier. Without a shadow of a doubt, it will be a neverending process. There is no way to learn oneself from A to Z. Human mind, heart, and soul are the eternal mystery.
The more we know ourselves, the more questions and doubts arise.
The learning process will last until the end of each human and the final days of human civilization. Science will never explain and resolve each mystery and inquiry on the same level. I will never fully know and comprehend myself. It is simply impossible. Human minds are too narrow to understand all the processes occurring on a micro (cellular) and macro (cosmic) level. Does that all mean we should stop trying to understand ourselves? Of course not. We should always strive for more knowledge about the world and ourselves. I believe in the process.
Knowing we will never understand everything correctly does not mean we cannot progress.
Today (I wrote this text on the 13th of November, 2023), I see human progress in the James Webb Space Telescope. Let’s go back to the title question. I do not know how to know myself except by reading, digesting, analyzing, and comparing everything I read with my experiences, feelings, and thoughts. I cannot write anymore in this case. Remember, my Dear Friend, I am only a human, not an omniscient demigod. Still, my disadvantages won’t stop me from questioning and diving deeper into my world and imagination.
