Today (I wrote this text on the 22nd of September, 2025), I will try to explain how to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
If you read my blog frequently, my Dear Friend, undoubtedly, you know how I often try to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. In my case, the key lies in intermittent fasting, exposing my body to cold by taking cold showers and walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures, and rucking. To write this text, I was inspired by one of the quotations from my previous posts (its name was “Finding pleasure in discomfort and pain”). Here we go:
I genuinely found comfort in discomfort and pain. Without the joy of the pain and happiness from discomfort, I would not take a cold shower and ruck.
I think I already answered the titled question in a quote pasted above. First of all, to accept and embrace discomfort, we should twist our minds so that we would see that not eating, feeling tremendously cold, or heavy weights on one’s back and shoulders, are some of the most incredible things that could happen to us. Did I get crazy? Probably I did. Still, I remember my childish joy when I was starting to do all these things. Unfortunately, I do not have this childish enjoyment each time I do not eat, take a cold shower, or walk with a heavy rucksack on my back.
Nevertheless, the childish joy was a catalyst for all these processes.
Without it, without adrenaline that was buzzing in my blood during the initial steps regarding the three activities mentioned above, I would not feel comfortable with the uncomfortable. Do not be afraid of challenges or adversities, my Dear Friend. Fasting, exposing your body to cold, and rucking can teach you how to embrace and accept the discomfort and fly high no matter what happens in your life.
