How to control one’s life?

February 10, 2026 by Adam Mazek

Today (I wrote this text on the 17th of August, 2025), I will try to explain how to control one’s life.

Undoubtedly, for me, writing, street photography, and managing the www.adammazek.com blog all provided a sense of control over my life and the possibility to choose, both in various scopes and broad areas of life. The older I am, the more clearly I see it. The possibility of creating gave a significant counterweight to all my professional activities. I no longer feel trapped by the world of finance. After all, I have the option to become a full-time creative person. Does it mean I plan to switch from the finance world to the world of art and earn money from my creative activities? No, I do not plan to do it. I have written many times that working in finance provides me with artistic independence. Still, I know that I have such an option and that I control both my professional tasks and creative endeavors.

I do not doubt that all my artistic activities brought me independence in my life.

It is not the case that I started earning money on it. No. I began to value myself from a totally different perspective. Even if I fail in my professional environment, I know I cannot name myself a failure. After all, for me, everything you see and read on my blog, my Dear Friend, is my big success. That’s how I control my life. That’s how broadly defined art helped me to stay sane. I feel that when I added practices like intermittent fasting (a pattern of eating that alternates between periods of fasting and eating), exposing my body to cold (a practice that involves exposing the body by taking cold showers and walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures), and rucking (a form of fitness training that involves carrying a weighted backpack for long distances) to my life, I know there are no better ways to take over my life.

I am in control of all these things.

Of course, sometimes I have a lousy mood. Still, I know that I’ve transitioned myself into a more robust human thanks to all things mentioned in this text. Last, but not least, my Dear Friend, please remember it is totally impossible to control everything in your life. But that’s okay. Instead of worrying about what’s out of your control, focus on what you can influence and change. That’s where your power lies.
