How to find inspiration in pain?

September 23, 2023 by Adam Mazek

For me, one of the best ways to find inspiration in pain is to take cold showers.

I wrote this text on the 3rd of August, 2022. It is the middle of summer, and temperatures outside are nearly hot. Day by day, I take a cold shower. Cold water in Warsaw during summer hurts, but not as much as in winter. Taking cold showers during winter is more challenging. Today, I confess that I cannot wait for frigid temperatures to rule the outside world. I want to face cold temperatures like I did during winter 2021/2022. Why? Because I find inspiration in pain.

The struggle with adversity is something inevitable. We cannot avoid them anyhow.

Thus, it is much better to get up and go to face the obstacles life can bring to us. It will hurt. I believe it is better to assume that life will be painful. If I find happiness, I know it can be short-lived. Thus, I do not stick to the ephemeral moment of joy. In pain, I trust because I find inspiration in it. How? I wrote many times that my mind works better thanks to exposing my body to cold. The truth is that I can focus more easily.

Moreover, I sleep better.

I believe that eating the first meal during the day at 7 p.m. could seem painful for many people. I am not one of them. There is no either physical or mental pain in intermittent fasting. Body, mind, and soul can be used to it. Perhaps it was some kind of mental pain at the beginning of doing it. Still, today, it is not. Thus, I miss getting out of my comfort zone in the winter. Cold showers during summer are not as much that refreshing and cold as winter ones.
