Today (I wrote this text on the 26th of June, 2023), I will try to explain how to unlock your creative potential.
I believe the first step to unlocking your creative potential, my Dear Friend, is to focus on the Journey and Process rather than the Destination. The more I create, the more I see and feel there is no final destination regarding creating works of art (in my case, these are photos, texts, “Diaries,” and sets of pictures like “Negation Of The End” or “Transience”). That’s why I focus on the journey and process. The truth is that I do not know the ultimate answer to the titled question. I still try to figure out how to unlock my creative potential. But what I do know is that the joy and fulfillment I find in the process, the sheer fun of it, is what keeps me going. I believe that forgetting about money, rewards, applause, and aims is one of the fundamental issues to do it.
Moreover, I would add that having fun, in the sense of enjoying the creative process, is potentially the most crucial issue when discussing unlocking creativity and being imaginative.
Once The Beatles lacked this enjoyment while composing, singing, and playing new songs, they slowly started to break up. The band began to be a conglomeration of creative individuals with enormous egos. Each wanted to create musical masterpieces as they wished to do individually. They increasingly wanted to avoid hearing from other musicians from the band. Speaking briefly, they no longer had the fun of creating music with each other.
One of the most remarkable examples is the so-called “The White Album” (official name: “The Beatles”).
On this album, we hear masterpieces composed by solo artists rather than the crew. They had fun composing music as a solo musician, not as a band. I cannot imagine doing street photography and writing without this sense of enjoyment. I believe great things can happen when there is fun, a lack of earnings, and a lack of a final destination. That’s how we can unlock our potential, I think. Did I unclose my full creative potential? I believe it is impossible to do it entirely. Still, some of us (e.g., drunkards) unlocked only 5%, and others (like Picasso or Dali) more than 50%.
