The older I am, the more I see (thanks to reading) that humankind aims to explore the far side of space and the inside of men’s minds and bodies.
Undoubtedly, not only humankind, as a whole, should learn and develop, but also each individual living in the society. After all, humanity consists of each individual man. If one starts to drink alcohol and do nothing, sooner or later, development will stop, and intellectual regression will appear. Such a human rather will stop asking himself existential questions because his enslaved mind, body, and soul will focus on how to satisfy the addiction. I do not want to be one of them. The only addiction I have is probably connected with walking. A similar issue, as with individuals, is with humankind. If society learns, develops, creates, and builds, it becomes more powerful.
The most robust and developed countries, like the United States of America, are sending rockets into space.
USA’s knowledge about outer worlds, the far side of the cosmos, and the inside of men’s minds and bodies is the most significant in humankind’s history. Thus, the USA contributes to the general knowledge of the whole of humanity. This connection between individual and societal development is crucial. The progress of society is a collective effort, and each individual’s contribution, or lack thereof, can significantly impact this progress.
On the other hand, as far as I know from the Polish news, the USA has an awful problem with fentanyl.
Again, the problem with many drug-addicted people can be a problem for the whole society because these people need help, do not produce anything valuable, criminal rates increase, the black market appears, etc. Luckily, these drug-addicted people do not prevent others from developing and make humanity go forward. Unfortunately, they also do not help. They do not participate in the broadly defined development of society. How happy I am that I do not have any addictions. I believe I contribute to the broadly defined growth of humanity by working and paying taxes, doing street photography, writing, preparing subsequent “Diaries'” editions, and managing the www.adammazek.com website.
